Modern Format of Vintage Fastener Drawings
Somebody has made a high-resolution scan of some nice old fastener drawings, and you can download the file for a dollar. Since the drawings are so old, I assume there is no copyright that applies. In this photo, they show it transferred to a pillow.

This would truly be nuts
If somebody buys and wears this at the Vegas show I will give them a screwcrew prize.

Cool Mini Case. Maybe for Some Altoids.
This is a neat idea. A lug nut with a lid. I’m not sure if it is food safe, but you could find something to keep in it.

Sneaky Spy Bolt Safe (OK Hex Cap Screw)
I think there is only one available, but it seems like a good deal for the machining involved. If you have something to hide and want to do it in a fastener freak kind of way, you can’t go wrong.

Chock Full O’ Nuts and Bolts
That’s really what this is.
I was looking through some printouts of old ScrewCrew.com web pages, back from the days when I tried writing my own html, and I found this picture. I was just old enough in the 70′s to really like the original Wacky Packages. This one brought back some memories of Crust toothpaste, Liptorn soup, and Gadzooka bubble gum.

Fully Threaded Radio – Episode 27 “My Thumb Hurts!”
I can’t wait to listen to this and get the latest fastener freak feeding, and find out what’s up with the thumb…

All of those “screw” jokes have now been formalized.
I recently received a very nice email from a woman named Laura ter Kuile - who lives in England! She found this crazy blog and thought (correctly) that I’d be interested in some fastener-related artwork she has worked on. Here is part of her email to explain:
“I’m currently finishing my University course in Falmouth, UK. I’m studying Contemporary Crafts and have recently completed a body of work inspired by screw threads, nuts and bolts, and general mechanical fun, which I try to relate back to the human body – which really is the perfect machine. The attached piece is called ‘Screwed’, and it is a commission for the local museum here which wanted me to respond to their up coming exhibition on sex education this summer.”
She attached a photo all right. Below is a small version that doesn’t really show how the work would be related to sex education. If you want to “see it all” click on the small photo to get a better look. It’s very interesting, maybe not something you want to use as your desktop background in the office, but interesting art nonetheless. I will be honest. When I first saw the full size version, I thought (and maybe even said), “Ew!” But then it made me wonder about why people are so uptight about, um, certain things that really should be no big deal. I also like how she has the nut sitting on a corner rather than on a flat. I think it adds animation to it.
I’m sure she would appreciate knowing your thoughts if you’ll leave a comment.

A Whole Collection of Fastener Jewelry for Her and Him
I actually got an email from an arteest (OK artist) who has fashioned a really great looking bunch of fastener jewelry. I’m not talking about the recent, odd fad that involved hanging nuts and washers from a string and calling it art or fashion. I’m talking about carefully crafted and constructed creations for fastener freaks. There is a separate page for each, so just click on the pic to find out more.
